Description

Compass 3 is a theme-based all-in-one integrated skills and grammar textbook that features high-interest Canadian and international content. It is the third and highest level of the three-level Compass series, aimed at High Intermediate to Advanced students. It contains reading, writing, listening, speaking, and watching activities that are designed to meet the specific objectives (level, length, and duration) outlined by the Quebec Ministry of Education. Each unit includes in-depth vocabulary development. A comprehensive grammar section allows ample practice opportunities for students. As an integrated-skills textbook, Compass 3 is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing teachers to choose the specific units they wish to use, and match the preferences and style of each instructor and the needs of each classroom. In total, there are six units and it is expected that most teachers will complete four or five units during the 45-hour program. Unstudied units can become extra testing material.

Editorial Reviews

"Each text has been carefully selected to be appropriate for the level, interesting to read, from an adequate source, and educational in its own right. They will help get students into a topic to debate and discuss. All of the chapters are well organized, easy to use, and interesting. This book really makes it easy to appreciate!" --Leslie Rempel, Cegep Edouard-Montpetit

"Thought-provoking topics that will generate discussion." --Sylvie Hebert, Cegep de Saint-Jerome

"All of the readings are stimulating and they touch on a variety of aspects of life, so I think they will appeal to many of the students as well. The types of questions asked are good as well because they require the students to show comprehension, work on reading strategies and apply the knowledge to their own lives." --Laura McGee, College de Maisonneuve

"Very good choices of reading texts." --Sherry Kent, Cegep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu

"Good level of difficulty, good topics, and they allow the students to express their critical thinking in speaking or writing projects." --Adriana Balan, College Ahuntsic
