Description

Explore 2 is a theme-based, all-in-one integrated skills and grammar textbook that features high-interest Canadian and international content. In total, there are 6 units and it is expected that most teachers will complete 4 or 5 units during the 45-hour program. This built-in flexibility allows teachers to focus on the units they and their students find the most stimulating, and provides more variety for teachers who teach the same course successively. Unstudied units can also become extra testing material.

Explore 2 is aimed at intermediate students who want to improve their English for career purposes. The textbook contains two readings per unit, writing activities, listening activities, speaking activities, a pronunciation activity, an interpreting data activity, a revising and editing activity, and a watching activity, all of which are designed to meet the specific objectives outlined by the Quebec Ministry of Education. All themes and content in Explore have transferable connections to both technical and pre-university B Block programs. These connections are further reinforced by field-specific activities and projects in each unit that ensure students transfer what they have learned into practical application within their field of study, using both input and output skills.

This innovative textbook addresses the reality that there is rarely a common B Block demographic in CEGEPs or in individual classes. As a result, the book is designed to meet a wide variety of student needs. The goal: help teachers find common denominators that are meaningful to and manageable for the entire group, no matter students' level or field of study.

The Explore 2 Annotated Teacher's Edition includes teaching notes and answers for use with the text.

Editorial Reviews

"The audios and videos can be assigned as a flipped classroom activity to permit weaker students more time. I appreciate the variety of accents and variety of vocabulary used. Timing is perfect. I also love the Learning Strategies section! It brings everything together and fits well with what I teach." --Lisa Deguire, Cégep de Jonquière

"No matter if enrolled in a pre-university or technical program, every student will be able to share opinions and knowledge from their own field of study with the projects and the many practice activities." --Marie-Josée Martineau, Cégep Édouard-Montpetit

"The practice activities do a great job of getting the students to connect the material to their field of study." --Christine Lalonde, Cégep de Sainte-Foy

"The project section is very useful. B Block courses specifically are project-based courses and this is the only way to cater to everybody's needs in the class at the same time." --Liana Jalalyan, Cégep Regional de Lanaudière à Terrebonne
